Kunming
Kunming is the capital of Yunnan Province, located in southwest China. It is a charming city, often called the "City of Eternal Spring" for its mild and temperate climate throughout the year, thanks to its altitude of about 1,900 meters above sea level.
Kunming is famous for its great biodiversity, due to the variety of climates and landscapes that surround the city. It is one of the gateways to the unique culture and nature of southwest China, with a strong influence of ethnic minorities, such as the Bai, Yi and Hani.
The city is also an important economic, commercial and cultural center of the region, with strong growth in recent decades. Kunming is a crossroads for trade between China and Southeast Asian countries, and has a strong connection with the historical trade routes of the Silk Road.
Among the main attractions are Dianchi Lake, one of the largest freshwater lakes in China, and the Golden Temple Park, a beautiful Buddhist temple located on a hill. Kunming is also known for its botanical gardens and markets, where you can find spices, teas and local handicrafts.
Kunming cuisine is characterized by the use of fresh and spicy ingredients, such as mushrooms and herbs, and typical dishes such as "suancai" (fermented cabbage) and spicy soups.
